Sales Opportunities
If you have written a term life policy in the last five years, then you may want to read this.
American General and Transamerica are offering additional coverage to your client at the same rating they may have gotten with another carrier. So, if your client was fully underwritten within the last 5 years and would like to get more term coverage, now is the chance without having to go through full underwriting. Just fill out the application and part II medical, then grab a copy of their current policy page showing rating, face amount and carrier name. There are limitations to the amount of additional coverage the client can get, but we can help you with that.
This is the perfect opportunity to reach out to that client that may have had a child or bought a house and should have more coverage in place.
You have until April to take advantage of American Generals offer. Transamerica has not set a date on their offer.
Met Life No Longer Taking Some Paper Applications
As of March 14, 2010, Met Life will be switching to what they are calling RapideUnderwriting. This will effect clients ages 18-40 who apply for $100K to $500K worth of 10, 15 or 20 year term insurance. The new process does not require parameds or medical exams with lab work. It also will bring the cycle time to issue down to 10 days or less.
Clients though, must be prepared for a 20 to 45 minute detailed phone interview. In this interview they will need to make sure they have information related to their health and medical history, foreign travel, avocations, aviation, driving history, etc. They should also have their drivers license and checking account information on hand for the purpose of setting up payments. And of course, they need to have beneficiary information.

Estate Tax Update 2011
As you may have heard, Congress has extended, with minor changes, the Bush Era tax laws. The key here is that they are only set to be extended for two years. After that, there is still much uncertainty. CLICK HERE to see what you need to know about the changes and what to expect as we head into 2011. Now is a good time to get with your clients to go over their estate and what the implications could be down the road if not planned for now.
